Bambu Lab X2D 3D Printer
Excellence Made Simple - Dual Extrusion Meets Intelligent Printing
The Bambu Lab X2D is a dual-nozzle 3D Printer designed for multi-material and multi-colour printing. It features a direct-drive primary nozzle and a Bowden auxiliary nozzle, both on a single toolhead. With a 256 x 256 x 260 mm build volume, print speeds up to 1,000 mm/s, an actively heated chamber reaching 65 °C, 31 onboard sensors, two AI cameras, and three-stage HEPA air filtration, the X2D delivers reliable, professional-quality prints at an accessible price.
Features of the Bambu Lab X2D 3D Printer
One Printer - Many Capabilities

Dual-Nozzle Extrusion
Two dedicated nozzles allow you to print the model and its supports in different materials at the same time.

Active Heated Chamber
The enclosed chamber heats up to 65 °C, allowing reliable printing of ABS, ASA, Nylon, and Polycarbonate.

AI Print Monitoring
31 sensors and 2 cameras continuously monitor the print and detect failures before they cause problems.

Up to 25 Colour Prints
Connect multiple AMS 2 Pro units to print with up to 25 different filament colours in a single job.
Dual-Nozzle System

PMSM Servo Primary Extruder
The primary nozzle uses a high-performance servo motor that provides 8.5 kg of extrusion force. It monitors filament flow 20,000 times per second, making it capable of printing flexible materials such as TPU with consistent results.

Rear-Mounted Auxiliary Nozzle
The secondary nozzle is mounted at the rear of the frame and uses a Bowden tube to feed filament. This design keeps the toolhead lightweight. Nozzle switching is fully mechanical and has been tested to over one million cycles.

Smooth Surface Quality
The auxiliary nozzle prints supports using a material that does not bond with the model, such as PVA or HIPS. Once printing is complete, the supports detach cleanly, leaving a smooth surface finish that requires no sanding or post-processing.
AI Monitoring and Safety

31 Onboard Sensors
The X2D has 31 sensors that continuously track filament feeding, temperature, run-out, tangles, and overall machine health. Any issue is detected immediately so the printer can respond before a print fails.

Dual AI Camera System
A 1080p liveview camera and a 1600 x 1200 toolhead camera work together to monitor the print visually. All processing is done on the printer itself, so monitoring works even without an internet connection.

Eight Failure Detection Modes
The AI system can identify eight types of print failures, including spaghetti errors, nozzle clogs, displaced parts, foreign objects, and plate misalignment. When a failure is detected, the printer pauses and sends an alert to the user.
Chamber and Air Quality Control

Heat Mode for Engineering Materials
The enclosed chamber heats up to 65 °C and maintains a stable temperature throughout the print. This prevents warping and layer separation when printing ABS, ASA, Nylon, and Polycarbonate.

Cool Mode for Standard Materials
When printing PLA or PETG, the X2D switches to Cool Mode and draws fresh air through dual intakes to keep temperatures low. This improves overhang quality and prevents heat-related issues during long prints.
Speed, Build Volume, and Build Quality

1,000 mm/s Maximum Print Speed
The primary nozzle prints at up to 1,000 mm/s with an acceleration of 20,000 mm/s². This reduces print times significantly compared to standard desktop printers.

256 x 256 x 260 mm Build Volume
The build area is large enough to print full-size components in one piece or run multiple smaller parts in a single batch, without compromising print speed or material capability.
Supported Materials
The primary nozzle supports a wide range of materials with a maximum hotend temperature of 300 °C. The auxiliary nozzle is designed for support materials and standard filaments.

Connectivity and Software
Dual-Band WiFi and LAN Mode: The X2D connects via 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi for remote printing and monitoring. It also supports a full offline LAN mode for use in restricted or secure environments.
5-Inch Touchscreen: A 1280 x 720 colour touchscreen is built into the printer, allowing users to manage print jobs, view live camera feeds, and adjust settings directly on the machine.
Bambu Studio Slicer: Bambu Studio includes a dedicated dual-nozzle workflow that handles colour separation, support material assignment, and purge optimisation. It also accepts G-code files from PrusaSlicer, SuperSlicer, and Cura.
Remote Monitoring via Bambu Handy: The Bambu Handy mobile app lets users monitor print progress and receive notifications for job completion, material run-out, and any detected issues.
Why Choose the Bambu Lab X2D?
The Bambu Lab X2D is suitable for engineers, product designers, educators, and makers who need reliable dual-material printing without the complexity or cost of industrial equipment. Whether you are printing functional prototypes with soluble supports, multi-colour models, or engineering-grade parts, the X2D provides the tools to do it efficiently.
