Key Features of Bambu Lab PLA Silk Multi-Color

PLA Silk Dual Color - Two Hues, Endless Perspectives

Bambu Lab PLA Silk Dual Color black-and-red spool with a glossy silk finish

Each Dual Color filament merges two distinct hues into a single strand. As you rotate the printed object, shifting perspectives reveal vibrant, ever-changing patterns across the silk surface - ideal for decorative models, figurines and display pieces. The colours are woven into the filament itself, so the effect never fades or wears off.

  • Two distinct colours seamlessly merged in one strand.
  • Colours shift as the model turns - dynamic, never flat.
  • Perfect for figurines, décor and display pieces.

PLA Silk Gradient - Smooth Transitions in a Single Spool

Bambu Lab PLA Silk Gradient printed model showing smooth flowing colour transitions

Bambu PLA Silk Gradient flows through 2 to 4 graceful colour shifts within one spool, producing elegant, eye-catching prints. Whether you are making vases, sculptures or decorative designs, the gradient brings depth and brilliance through flowing, silk-like transitions. Each colour segment spans roughly 20 m (65 g+), so you control the effect by the amount of filament a model uses.

  • 2 to 4 colour transitions flowing through one spool.
  • ~20 m per colour segment - tune via infill, size or quantity.
  • Chrome-like silk sheen straight off the build plate.

RFID Smart Printing, AMS-Ready

Bambu Lab PLA Silk Multi-Color Aurora Purple gradient spool with RFID tag

Every spool carries an RFID tag with all printing parameters embedded, read automatically by the AMS (Automatic Material System). The 1KG reusable spool is compatible with all AMS Series units, so multi-colour and gradient jobs run hands-free. Filament ships dried and vacuum-sealed, and prints on any FDM machine - just slow the outer wall to 40 mm/s for the best silk shine.

  • RFID spool - parameters auto-read by the AMS.
  • Compatible with all AMS Series units.
  • Reusable spool · ships dried & vacuum-sealed.

Tips for Best Results

01

Slow the Outer Wall to 40 mm/s

For the best silk shine and the cleanest colour transitions, drop the outer wall speed to around 40 mm/s. This is the single biggest lever on print quality with Silk Multi-Color.

02

Tune the Gradient Length

Each colour segment spans about 20 m (65 g+). Using 40 m (125 g+) guarantees at least one two-colour transition; 80 m (250 g+) unlocks the full four-colour effect on variants like Dawn Radiance. Adjust sparse infill density, print quantity or the spool starting point to shift where colours land.

03

Dry Before Use

It ships dried and vacuum-sealed, but transport can add moisture. Dry right after opening, then store in a sealed container with desiccant or in the AMS for consistent colour and finish.

04

Mind Printer Compatibility

Dual Color has a small chance of filament rotation causing uneven transitions - the A-series is not recommended for Dual Color. It is also not compatible with the Cool Plate SuperTack or hardened steel 0.6 / 0.8 mm nozzles.

05

Store Sealed with Desiccant

Keep humidity low and repeat drying before each long-term storage period, so the silk sheen and colour effects stay crisp print after print.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Dual Color and Gradient?
Dual Color merges two distinct hues into a single strand, so colours shift as you rotate the model. Gradient flows through 2 to 4 colours along the length of the spool, giving smooth transitions across a print. Both share the same mirror-bright silk finish.
Do I need to post-process the prints to get the shine?
No - the silk sheen comes straight off the printer. For the best possible finish, lower the outer wall speed to around 40 mm/s.
How much filament do I need to see the full gradient?
Each colour segment spans about 20 m (65 g+). Using 40 m (125 g+) guarantees at least one two-colour transition, and 80 m (250 g+) shows the full four-colour effect on variants like Dawn Radiance.
Is it compatible with the AMS?
Yes - the 1KG spool carries an RFID tag and is compatible with all AMS Series units, so multi-colour and gradient jobs run hands-free.
Can I use it on A-series printers?
Gradient works on all printers. Dual Color is not recommended on the A-series, because their structure gives a higher chance of filament rotation that can cause uneven colour transitions.
Do I really need to dry it?
Yes. It ships dried and vacuum-sealed, but transport can introduce moisture. Dry right after opening and store sealed with desiccant or in the AMS for consistent results.
