Key Features of Elegoo PLA Matte

Beautiful Matte Finish - Layer Lines Disappear

Elegoo PLA Matte vases showing smooth matte finish with nearly invisible layer lines

PLA Matte's low-gloss, velvety surface makes layer lines nearly invisible, so prints look designed rather than printed. The low-saturation macaron colours bring a soft, elegant character to vases, décor and display pieces - no sanding, priming or painting required.

  • Low-gloss matte surface hides layer lines.
  • Soft macaron colour palette for an elegant look.
  • Display-ready straight off the printer.

Clean, Accurate Prints - Less Stringing

Elegoo PLA Matte dimensional accuracy 1.75mm measured with calipers

With a dimensional accuracy of ±0.02 mm on a tight 1.75 mm diameter, PLA Matte extrudes consistently print after print. It is less prone to stringing and deformation than standard PLA, and every spool is fully dried and vacuum-sealed with desiccant, so you never fight clogs or bubbles mid-print.

  • ±0.02 mm dimensional accuracy, 1.75 mm diameter.
  • Less stringing and deformation than regular PLA.
  • Dried and vacuum-sealed - no clogging or bubbles.

Neatly Wound, Tangle-Free Cardboard Spool

Elegoo PLA Matte neatly wound cardboard spools preventing tangles

Each spool is neatly wound and passes a strict manual inspection to prevent entangling and crossed turns, giving you smooth, uninterrupted feeding on long prints. The cardboard spool and box are made from recycled material - an eco-friendlier choice that degrades far faster than plastic spools.

  • Neatly wound and manually inspected - no tangles.
  • Recycled cardboard spool and packaging.
  • Smooth feeding for long, uninterrupted prints.

Works With Virtually Every FDM Printer

  • Nozzle 190–230°C · Bed 35–65°C.
  • Compatible with most 1.75 mm FDM printers.
  • Familiar PLA printing behaviour - beginner friendly.

Tips for Best Results

01

Start at 210°C

Begin with a 210°C nozzle and 60°C bed, then tune within the 190–230°C range. Lower temperatures preserve the matte look best; higher temperatures improve layer bonding on functional parts.

02

Slow Down for Show Pieces

For display prints, a slightly slower speed and 0.12–0.16 mm layers make the matte surface look almost injection-moulded. The finish hides what layer lines remain.

03

Keep It Dry

The spool arrives dried and vacuum-sealed. After opening, store it in a dry box or sealed bag with desiccant - dry filament is what keeps prints free of stringing and bubbles.

04

Mind the Cardboard Spool

Cardboard spools are eco-friendly but slightly rougher than plastic on some AMS/auto-feed systems - if your feeder is sensitive, check its cardboard-spool guidance or use an adapter ring.

05

Tuck the Filament End

When swapping spools, always park the loose end in the spool's holding holes. A neatly parked end keeps the tangle-free winding intact for next time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between PLA Matte and regular PLA?
PLA Matte cures the shiny-plastic look: its low-gloss surface scatters light so layer lines become nearly invisible, and its low-saturation macaron colours look premium without painting. It also strings and deforms less than standard PLA. Printing behaviour is otherwise the same familiar, easy PLA experience.
What temperatures should I print Elegoo PLA Matte at?
Nozzle 190–230°C and bed 35–65°C. A good starting point is 210°C nozzle with a 60°C bed, then run a temperature tower to fine-tune for your printer.
Is it compatible with my printer?
Yes, almost certainly - PLA Matte works with virtually every 1.75 mm FDM printer, including Elegoo Neptune, Creality Ender/K1, Bambu Lab, Anycubic Kobra, Prusa and more.
Does the matte finish need any post-processing?
No - hiding layer lines is the whole point. Prints come off the bed with a smooth, velvety finish. If you do sand or glue a part, it behaves like regular PLA.
Is the cardboard spool a problem for AMS or auto-feed systems?
Most systems handle cardboard spools fine, but some (like certain AMS units) recommend an adapter ring because cardboard edges are rougher than plastic. Check your feeder's guidance if it is sensitive.
How should I store the filament?
Reseal it in a dry bag or dry box with the included desiccant after use. PLA absorbs moisture slowly, but dry filament is what keeps the surface clean and the extrusion bubble-free.
